THE ARCHIVES AND THE LIBRARY 
 
Donated by the creator of the Centre, Dr. Sophocles Sophocleous. 
They are at the disposal of scholars and students. 
 
EIKONOLOGION (The Photographic Archive) 
The Centre's photographic archives comprise more than 15.000 documents in photos and slides concerning the cultural heritage of Cyprus, mainly the 
Byzantine and Post-Byzantine artistic wealth (churches, monasteries, murals, icons, iconostases, manuscripts, old books, engravings, holy utensils), vernacular architecture, archaeological sites, historic monuments, landscapes and others. The photographic archives are now being computerised. 
 
The documentation of the Department for Conservation 
This is completely computerised and records:
1. standardised data concerning the conservation of art works, especially iconostases, icons, murals, archaeological objects and other artifacts. 
2. the documentation of the Architectural and Landscaping Department: plans and photographs of the architectural projects of the Centre and other architectural drawings (museums, restorations, landscaping schemes, iconostases etc.). 
 
The record of the old icons of the Diocese of Limassol 
This record comprises the icons of this area from the 12th to the 16th century. It has been published as the PhD thesis of  Dr. Sophocles Sophocleous (see PUBLISHING BUREAU). 

 

The record of Palaichori Ecclesiastical Heritage.
Documented in 1992 and 1993
Palaichori, originally divided into two villages, Palaichori Morfou and Palaichori Orinis, has preserved three 16th century painted churches with a rich old furniture (iconostases, icons, sacred objects and relics, old books and manuscripts, engravings, paintings on canvas and leather). A volume of almost 200 pages, lavishly illustrated, on this record is to be published by the ANASTASIOS G. LEVENTIS FOUNDATION.
 
THE LIBRARY
A very small library, consisting mainly of books on Cyprus history, art and archaeology, is open during working hours.
