SEMINARS AND LECTURES
The Centre seeks to disseminate its knowledge and gives lectures in foreign Universities, High Schools as well as scientific establishments, and communications to congresses, on request. In 1996 and 1997 the Director of the Centre, Dr. Sophocles Sophocleous, taught the Byzantine art of Cyprus at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes in Paris, Sorbonne, as Visiting Professor, in accordance with the Centre's stated aim to teach Cyprus' Byzantine art and civilisation in foreign Universities.
In 1994 and 1995, a three-month seminar was organised for the Cyprus Guide's Association in order to deepen its members' knowledge of approaching and interpreting the Byzantine and Post Byzantine heritage of Cyprus. A practical workshop was organised at the end, with visits to churches and monasteries.
In October 1996, a seminar in collaboration with the Surrey Institute of Art and Design and the Archaeological Unit of the University of Cyprus was organised in Nicosia under the title SILK IN BYZANTIUM. The speaker was Professor Dr. Anna Muthesius.
